About Dental Crowns
To heal and restore broken teeth, deep discoloration, significant decay, and other problems, dental crowns cover the entire tooth. At DentalWorks - Northcross Village in Huntersville, NC, crowns (sometimes called caps) are strong, durable covers that fit snugly on top of the visible area of the tooth above the gumline in cases where a cavity is too large to be filled with a tooth-colored filling or if the tooth is broken and needs a shield. Crowns may also be used to mask a discolored tooth as well as to add to the stability to a bridge. Crowns by our dentists at DentalWorks - Northcross Village may be ceramic, porcelain, or metal, depending on the placement of the crown. The hind teeth usually benefit from the extra durability of metal, while the visible teeth look better with ceramic or porcelain crowns that are colored to match the patient's natural teeth.

"Exceptional patient care! The moment I arrived, kind and courteous office staff awaited me. The entire appointment was everything (and more) a dental visit should be. The office staff, technicians, hygienist, and dentist are kind, professional, honest and knowledgeable about every facet of dentistry. I have made an appointment for my daughter and husband as well. Dr. Deevers and Team are the dental practice we’ve always hoped to find :-)"- R.L. / Google / May 05, 2018
"I don't even know where to begin, I just want to brag about this dental staff from a Dental Phobic perspective. Can we say WOW? Long story short, In an emergency, I had called this office and ultimately had to have a tooth extracted. Dental Fear for me is like "death"! LOL I can tell everyone, Jaime (front desk), Jessica (Ofc. Mgr.), Dr. Veders(Dentist) Deena, (Dental Assistant), Emily (Dental Asst.) Vanessa (Front Desk), Kostace (Dental Hygienist) were incredible during the extraction/follow -up and new patient exam. They ALL understood my fear and put me at ease pretty quickly. Yesterday at my new patient exam, I had a great time! I have never had the opportunity to say that with any dentist anytime in my life! We joked, I was educated and I was UNAFRAID! Please if you experience this phobic condition...Your dental staff should care about you as a whole person, not just a mouth on a conveyor belt. Not only the fear was gone, But they do a great job with all of the dental procedures and it is not agonizing either! I am quite sure that I have found my forever dentist! Thanks to all of you at Dental Works in Northcross Village/Huntersville!"- C.T. / Google / May 03, 2018

What to Expect
To create a custom crown, our dentists initially prepare the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel, then taking dental X-rays and impressions of the tooth that will be sent to the dental laboratory. A temporary cap can be placed on the tooth while the custom, permanent crown is being built. When the custom, permanent crown is returned to DentalWorks - Northcross Village in Huntersville, NC, our dentists will expertly secure and bond the crown on the tooth. Our dentists may adjust the cap for a better fit.
Some patients may experience temporary discomfort or tooth sensitivity, but on the whole patients do not have any pain after a cap is complete. With proper at-home care and regular dental exams and professional cleanings, a crown may last for 10 - 40 years, based on the material and location of the cap. In some cases, a cavity or infection may cultivate under the crown, which may require a root canal or other procedure.
When the crown is considered necessary for the patient's health, dental insurance policies usually pay a portion of the cost, so our office staff at DentalWorks - Northcross Village in Huntersville, NC will check with the patient’s insurance to determine their coverage and the patient's out-of-pocket expenses. Estimated costs, payment methods, and financing options are accepted through our office in Huntersville, NC and can be discussed at the patient's consultation with our dentists.
